APS6/EL1 Executive Officer

Symonston, ACT location | 12 months with possibility of extension | $52-73 per hour plus superannuation, depending on experience

Our prominent Federal Government client is currently seeking an APS6/EL1 Executive Officer to join their team on a contractual basis. You will be providing high level administrative and strategic support to the First Assistant Secretary (FAS). You will bring with you a strong attention to detail and ability to exercise sound judgement. You will have high developed oral and written communication skills, strategic planning and problem solving skills along with a proven ability of relationship management skills.

Duties will include:

  • Working closely and collaboratively with the FAS to ensure priority matters are actioned appropriately
  • Preparing, coordinating and proofing complex and/or sensitive correspondence, corporate documentation, submissions, speeches, talking points, briefing papers and other strategic communication and correspondence
  • Establishing and maintaining working relationships and providing high level of service to:
  • The Senior Executive
  • The Minister’s Office
  • Staff at all levels across the division and department
  • Senior Officers in external agencies and organisations
  • Liaising with senior internal and external stakeholders in relation to complex or sensitive matters
  • Undertaking work activities such as business planning, with an awareness of the possible impact on strategic or operational outcomes for the division
  • Undertaking research and analysis, interpreting policy and providing advice to the FAS regarding the application of practices and procedures
  • Providing strategic advice to the FAS about division matters and ensuring that she remains informed and aware of issues requiring attention
  • Provide leadership to the Executive Assistant to the FAS to deliver results by motivating, guiding and developing staff and identifying opportunities to enhance team performance

    This is a security assessed position. Applicants must be an Australian citizen, with successful candidate either holding or having the ability to obtain a Baseline Australian Government security clearance or undergo other employment suitability checks.
