Our prominent Federal Government client is currently seeking an experienced APS6/EL1 equivalent Senior Financial Accountant to join their team on a contract basis. They are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable individual to join the Financial and Assets Accounting Team. You will report to the Financial and Assets Finance Team Leader while being primarily responsible for external financial reporting, finance policies, accounting controls and accounting policies. To be successful in this role you will have strong communication skills and a high level of attention to detail. PLEASE NOTE: A Baseline Security Clearance is essential for this role.
Duties will include: Planning and preparation of statutory financial statements, final budget outcome and monthly financial reporting Coordinate internal and external assurance activities Manage general leger and accounting controls processes Review and update Financial Policies and provide advice to business areas Prepare technical accounting papers and provide accounting advice to business areas Contribute to business process improvement initiatives Develop and maintain effective relationship with business area and implement relationship maintenance processes such as escalation and training
Skills and abilities: Experience in whole of Government reporting obligations such as final budget outcome Experience in managing general accounting and administrative functions such as general leger management, treasury, taxation and internal controls Ability and readiness to work in a collaborative way Experience in a small to medium Government Agency where one is expected to cover a wide range of issues
This is a security assessed position. Applicants must be an Australian citizen, with successful candidate either holding or having the ability to obtain a Baseline Australian Government security clearance or undergo other employment suitability checks.
