APS6 Secretariat Officer – Multiple positions available

Our well-known Federal Government client is currently seeking the expertise of experienced Secretariat Officers at the APS6 level to join their team responsible for providing superior support to a high profile national committee and its subcommittees. These opportunities will be offered on an hourly rate contract commencing ASAP through until 20 December 2019 initially with the potential for extension.

Working as the Secretariat Officer, you will be required to;

  • Schedule and manage meetings;
  • Research and develop committee discussion papers, agendas and other relevant documentation;
  • Support the provision of high level advice including drafting reports, briefings, and technical papers;
  • Draft minutes and meeting statements;
  • Record and tracking action items;
  • Manage relevant inbox(es) and respond to enquiries;
  • Develop and maintain a broad professional knowledge of the program;
  • Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal staff at all levels, committee members and other key external stakeholders;
  • Represent the Department at internal and external meetings;

    To succeed in the role, you will have;

  • Demonstrated ability to provide high level secretariat support to expert committees;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to prepare high standard briefings, submissions, reports and other documentation as required;
  • Highly developed interpersonal, liaison and negotiation skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, identify linkages and identify opportunities for improvement;
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate complex tasks, meet agreed deadlines and manage peak workloads;
  • Demonstrated ability to apply judgement, and excellent attention to detail;
  • A mature and calm demeanor that is maintained under pressure; and
  • Demonstrated experience working within a secretariat role in the Federal Government

    This is a security assessed position. Applicants must be an Australian citizen, with successful candidate either holding or having the ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline Australian Government security clearance. In addition to this, shortlisted candidates will be required to provide a current National Police Check (no less than 12 months old) upon interview.
