Our client, a large centrally located federal government department is seeking an experienced Communication Officer for an initial period of 4 months with the possibility of a 6 month extension.
You will be working within the department’s Communication Branch which supports the Minister’s Office, the departmental executive and business areas within the department on a wide range of communication issues. These include media liaison and monitoring, internal and program communication, speech writing, events management and public information campaigns.
The successful candidate will be required to: • coordinate the interagency monthly communication meetings including noting actions. • coordinate the logistics and product development for the Jobs Fairs. • oversee engagement with the employment provider communication network. • help with development of some products including banners and social media advertising. • assist with external agency programs to help identify effective communication • assist with the development of innovative methods to engage with job seekers about a range of programs and support the development of campaigns, as required.
Essential skills will include:
• An understanding of communication principles developing, implementing and evaluating integrated communication strategies • Project management • High level communication skills
At level communications experience in a government setting would be highly regarded.
