APS5/APS6 Policy Officers

Our client, a well-known Federal Government department based in Canberra’s inner South, is seeking multiple Policy Officers at the APS5 and APS6 levels to join an established team responsible for the regulation of importation, exportation and manufacturing of controlled Drugs within Australia. These positions will be offered on an hourly rate contract through until 30 June 2019 commencing ASAP.

Candidates will ideally have experience working in a policy area or experience working within legislative frameworks. While a legal qualification is not mandatory, candidates with legal skills or qualifications would be well suited to this position.

Key responsibilities of these roles will include:

  • Assessing applications for licenses and permits
  • Producing written reports to support decision making
  • Assisting in the development of policy documents and/or instructional material
  • Stakeholder engagement

    To be successful in this role you will have:

  • The ability to quickly develop an understanding of legislation to apply this knowledge on a daily basis
  • Strong communication and problem solving skills
  • An active Baseline Security Clearance

  • Dental Assistant

    This professional and highly reputable Orthodontic practice is seeking an enthusiastic Dental Assistant to join their team. The role is being offered on a part time basis.

Clinical staff are qualified, experienced and focused on upholding the values and ethos of the business, which include providing the best, most appropriate treatment for all clients and patients. This fully supportive team environment, also offers comprehensive training in the pouring of models and sterilisation and infection control procedures.

    The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous Dental Assisting experience
  • Good hand-eye coordination

  • Self-motivated with the ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritise workload

    Duties will involve:

  • Certificate III or IV in Dental Assisting
  • Experience in a dental, orthodontic, health, medical or clinical practice will be highly regarded.

    An attractive hourly rate will be offered to the successful candidate between $26 - $28 per hour plus superannuation depending on experience. This position will float between two locations. 1 within the parliamentary triangle and one in Belconnen.

  • APS4 Executive Assistant – Baseline Clearance

    SOS Recruitment is currently recruiting an experienced Executive Assistant with active Baseline security clearance to join this fantastic Department that is known for their positive culture and their supportive environment. These opportunities will be offered on an initial 6 month hourly rate contract commencing ASAP.

    Working as the Executive Assistant, you will be responsible for ensuring smooth management and organisation of the Executives’ office, using excellent judgement to identify, delegate and escalate priorities as they arise. Your duties may include;

    Extensive diary and inbox management – prioritisation of email correspondence, coordination of meeting requests including room bookings, invites and agendas for meetings and appointments. Co-ordinate preparation of high quality written presentations, ministerial briefs, submissions and letters for the Executive, including drafting some material. Co-ordinate travel; including flight and accommodation booking, travel allowances and reimbursements. Develop and maintain effective, professional relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders Manage finances; including credit card reconciliations, payment of invoices, purchase orders and financial reports. Using excellent judgement, establish and manage requests for information and escalate priorities.

    To succeed in this role, you will possess;

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an advanced level of oral and written communication.
  • Highly developed planning and organising skills, including the ability to proactively problem solve, manage conflicting priorities and achieve results in tight timeframes.

  • APS 5-EL 1 Policy Officers - Baseline Clearance

    Our centrally located Federal government client is seeking Policy Officers at the APS 5 to EL 1 levels with high levels of written and analytical skills to work within a small team on a variety of policy projects.

    This position will be offered as a 6 month agency contract with possible extension starting early January 2019.

    Duties for role will include developing concise and clear advice to the senior executives and draft related Ministerial briefs for the Minister.

    The successful candidates will have:

  • Strong written communication skills with a policy background
  • Experience in writing briefs and policy papers in a policy development setting
  • Ability to quickly develop an understanding of complex subject matter

    These positions will be offered for 6 months with the possibility of extension. Previous experience in a Policy role at the at the APS 5 to EL1 levels in the APS would be highly regarded.

    This is a security assessed position. Applicants must be an Australian citizen, with successful candidates either holding or having the ability to obtain a Baseline Australian Government security clearance or undergo other employment suitability checks.
