APS6 Workplace Relations Adviser

We are searching for an experienced Workplace Relations Adviser at the APS6 level to commence ASAP on a non-ongoing contract for 6 months initially with the potential to extend.

Working as the Workplace Relations Adviser, you will be responsible for providing high level policy advice and project support in relation to the department’s employment framework and terms and conditions of employment.

Your duties will include;

  • providing support to managers in relation to workplace relations issues and conduct Code of Conduct investigations
  • Maintaining a well-developed understanding of the Department’s employment framework, policies and workplace relations processes and assist HR teams to provide sensitive advice
  • Applying legislation, policy, procedures and guidelines to situations involving complexity and sensitivity which require considerable interpretation and analysis
  • Undertaking research and analysis to support project initiatives and contribute to the development of new policy and guidelines
  • Provide administrative and secretariat support services to the Workplace Consultative Committee and the Diversity and Inclusion Committee, assisting with setting the direction of these committees

    To succeed in this role, you will have;

  • Demonstrated ability in providing advice on the application of APS employment frameworks, policies and guidelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve moderately complex interpretations of legislation, policy and guidelines in a sensitive, accurate and timely manner.
  • Ability to build and maintain a well-developed understanding of the Department’s employment framework.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse data and identify trends and issues.
  • Ability to operate effectively in an environment of competing priorities and tight deadlines, capacity
  • Ability to prepare a range of written material including agency briefs and corporate documentation.
  • Qualifications in a relevant discipline are desirable, as is a demonstrated knowledge and application of the HRM system (Aurion).
