APS 5 Policy Officers - Baseline Clearance

Our centrally located Federal government client is seeking Policy Officers at the APS 5 level with high levels of written and analytical skills to work within a small team on a variety of policy projects.

This position will be offered as a 6 month agency contract with possible extension starting early January 2019.

Duties for role will include developing concise and clear advice to the senior executives and draft related Ministerial briefs for the Minister.

The successful candidates will have:

  • Strong written communication skills with a policy background
  • Experience in writing briefs and policy papers in a policy development setting
  • Ability to quickly develop an understanding of complex subject matter

    These positions will be offered for 6 months with the possibility of extension. Previous experience in a Policy role at the APS 5 level in the APS would be highly regarded.

  • APS5 Assessment Officer – Compliance Division

    Our well-known Federal Government client is currently seeking an APS5 Assessment Officer to join an established team responsible for undertaking complex assessments to support investigations to determine whether matters should be referred for further enforcement action. This opportunity will be offered on a non-ongoing contract for an initial 6 month period commencing ASAP.

    As the Assessment Officer you will be responsible for:

  • Identifying, planning and undertaking research for fit and proper person activities and assessments including the use of specialist systems
  • Understanding and utilising analytical tools and techniques
  • Producing high-quality and accurate Assessments and Statement of Findings within set timeframes whilst complying with legislative, policy and security frameworks
  • Preparing briefs, reports and correspondence on team and section activities
  • Building and maintaining strong and effective relationships with key stakeholders
  • Managing and maintaining accurate files and records
  • Designing, recommending and implementing business efficiencies

    All applicants should have sound research, analytical and writing skills. Experience in conducting case assessments within a regulatory environment would be highly advantageous. Relevant and contemporary qualifications or experience in audits and/or compliance management is highly desirable. Please note that in order to be considered for this opportunity, you must currently hold a minimum Baseline Security Clearance.

  • APS 3 Data Entry Operators - Melbourne

    Our Government client, based in Melbourne CBD, is seeking an APS 3 Data Entry Operator for a 4 month contract commencing immediately.

    To be successful in this role you will have efficient skills at interpreting hand-written forms and entering the data into a system based form and have the ability to meet a standard volume of data entering 80-100 reports per standard working day.

    Duties will include: • Undertaking computer-based functions relating to the input of data across a range of report types • Ensuring the data is entered correctly, to required standards and within defined timeframes. • Liaising with relevant stakeholders in relation to identified data issues. • Completing other relevant duties as required.

  • APS 4 Executive Assistant – Sydney CBD

    Our client, a federal government department based in the Sydney CBD is seeking an experienced Executive Assistant at the APS 4 level for an ASAP start until 30 June 2019.

    This is an excellent an opportunity to potentially transition into a federal government department that works on initiatives designed to support the community sector.

    As Executive Assistant (EA) to a senior manager duties will include:

  • Provide high level executive and administrative support.
  • Act as first point of contact for the office.
  • Manage the diary and emails.
  • Arrange appointments, travel and meetings.
  • Acquittal of travel and credit card.
  • Provide high level administrative support to branch staff, as required. This may include the coordination of Executive staff visits.
  • Coordinate requests for information from internal and external stakeholders.

    A high level of proficiency using the MS Office suite is essential as well as strong client liaison and interpersonal skills.

  • APS4 Funding Arrangement Manager – TOWNSVILLE

    Our Federal Government client are seeking an APS4 Funding Arrangement Manager to commence ASAP on an hourly rate contract through until 30 June 2019.

    This role is responsible for supporting the planning, administration of funding arrangement management, assessing performance and identifying risks, issues and helping to develop relationships.

    With support from the Team Leader, the key responsibilities of the Funding Arrangement Manager include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct high quality administration of performance assurance activities, ranging from moderate to high complexity
  • Assess funding recipient performance against program guidelines
  • Provide performance assurance by identifying gaps, risks and issues
  • Apply judgement to determine when escalation is required to help achieve resolution
  • Identify and contribute to policy, program and process improvements
  • Develop relationships with funding recipients
  • Record information obtained through engagements and other performance activities in corporate systems

    To succeed in the role, you will possess the following skills and experience:

  • Experience working within a program setting (APS experience highly desirable)
  • Well-developed analytical, problem solving and research skills with the ability to apply legislation and policy in decision-making and in making sound judgements and recommendations.
  • Organisational skills and ability to plan and manage a range of tasks within given timeframes.
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills with demonstrated ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders and maintain key stakeholder relationships;
  • Ability to work effectively as a part of a team working collaboratively with demonstrated drive, flexibility and initiative.
  • Previous experience in grant management would be useful but not essential
