APS5 Parliamentary Support Officer

Our Federal Government client is currently seeking an APS5 Parliamentary Support Officer to join their team in Canberra. As the Parliamentary Support Officer you will communicate with Department stakeholders and assist in the preparation and provision of information and advice. Parliamentary Support Officers contribute to responses to emerging issues and timely and accurate recording of issues in the Department systems. Experience working in a customer service role or a complaint management role would be highly desirable.

Duties will include:

  • Manage the team email inbox and record complaints in the business systems
  • Contact the relevant stakeholders to confirm the receipt of the referred complaints and gather relevant information
  • Summarise the information gathered and assign the case to a team member to resolve
  • Contribute to the maintenance of professional relationships with other Department teams
  • Contribute to the process and practices of the team and ensure the records in the team are accurate and current
  • Assist with the escalation of complaints in accordance with the established Department complaint handling processes
  • Undertake other tasks as required by the Director and Department Executives

  • APS 6 Senior Accounts Payable Officer

    Our Federal Government client is seeking an experienced APS 6 Senior Accounts Payable Officer to support the more complex day to day activities of the accounts payable and vendor maintenance functions to meet all KPIs.

    Your Responsibilities:

  • Perform finance duties including account maintenance, credit management, payment runs, customer refunds, procurement and contract development, complex financial reconciliations, KPI monitoring and management reporting
  • Provide sound and detailed technical, professional and policy advice relating to complex problems
  • Assist with strategic planning, program and project management and policy development
  • Drafting business optimisation and internal controls and assurance documentation
  • Contribute to the establishment and implementation of new services and systems
  • Supporting the day to day activities of credit card and travel functions

    Your Background:

  • Demonstrated experience working within a Shared Service operating environment and a strategic policy landscape within the public sector finance environment
  • Demonstrated experience and strong understanding of financial management and procurement within the APS
  • Demonstrated ability to display strong reasoning, critical thinking, analytical skills with the ability to apply data to solve problems, make decisions and improve systems and services
  • Demonstrated accuracy and timeliness in live with relevant processes, practices and service standards
  • Hold a tertiary qualification in human resources, finance, accounting, economic, business or a related field

    Our Federal Government client is currently seeking an APS6 Parliamentary officer to join their teams in Darwin, NT and Hobart, TAS. PLEASE NOTE: This is a part time position, working 18.75 hours per week. The Parliamentary Officer works with key areas across the Department to provide efficient and timely service, working to resolve complaints raised by local Members of Parliament on behalf of their Constituents. The Parliamentary Officer is required to provide verbal and written advice, be proactive in identifying emerging issues, and timely recording of issues in the Departments systems. The Parliamentary Officer provides information on the Department and their initiatives to Parliamentarians and their Staff through in meetings and presentations. The Parliamentary Officer works with other branches within the Department to ensure that the information provided in these meetings is current and relevant.

    Duties will include:

  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with allocated parliamentarians and their staff
  • Establishing productive and professional relationships with Departmental leadership teams
  • Providing Parliamentarians with information on the purpose, scope and profess of Departmental initiatives as it relates to their community and Constituent
  • Facilitating a timely response to Parliamentarian’s enquiries and representations regarding specific Constituents using appropriate regional processes for referral and resolution of the issue
  • Recording details of complaints, enquiries and engagement with local members and their staff
  • Escalating complaints from Constituents in accordance with the established Department complaint handling processes
  • Coordinating input into Departmental briefings for the Minister and Department Executive
  • Facilitate other tasks as required by the Director and Department Executives

    Desirable skills:

  • Proven experience in engagement and communication
  • Experience working with Parliamentarians or ability to draw parallels with experience in similar roles
  • Experience in working in a complaints management role

Under general direction, you will be responsible for various financial tasks including; processing accounts payable and receivable, banking, managing travel arrangements and credit cards, and resolving financial queries.

    Your responsibilities will include;

  • Process accounts payable and receivable including data processing, receipting and paying invoices
  • Manage travel financial arrangements and undertake acquittal processes relating to travel expenses

  • Previous experience as a Finance Officer in a government setting
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Ability to communicate and provide advice to a range of stakeholders
