APS5 – Laboratory Technical Officer

Long term non-ongoing contract till 24 August 2018 with option to extend another 12 months. Our client, a Commonwealth government department is seeking an experienced Laboratory Officer to:

  • Provide technical support within a team of professional and technical staff engaged in vaccine testing and method development activities. Perform a variety of moderately complex tests and procedures, which includes cell culture and animal assay work.
  • Ensure routine maintenance and calibration activities occur and that adequate supplies and consumables are available.
  • Analyse, interpret and record results.
  • Participate in quality assurance processes such as internal audits, laboratory manual reviews and equipment calibrations.
  • Monitor and participate in laboratory maintenance duties.

    Applicants are required to be able to demonstrate:

  • Relevant experience working in a laboratory, in the field of biological sciences, preferably with cell culture experience.
  • Ability to follow and contribute to updating written technical documents for use within the laboratory
  • Good analytical, problem solving, and planning skills.
  • Ability to work across different tasks with competing priorities and with minimal supervision.

    It is desirable for the applicant to have:

  • Qualifications in a relevant field such as molecular biology, cell biology, microbiology/virology or another relevant discipline from an Australian tertiary institution or comparable overseas qualification.
  • Working experience in a regulatory environment.


  • Part-time Administration Officer

    Our client is seeking an experienced Administration Officer with a positive attitude and flexible approach. The role is located in Queanbeyan and is being offered up until Christmas commencing ASAP.

    Hours will be between 10am – 2pm Monday to Friday with the hourly rate being $26.00 plus super.

    You will have exceptional customer service skills with good phone manner, and strong computer skills including MS Word, Outlook and Excel.

    Duties will include:

  • Answering telephones
  • Booking customer appointments
  • Data entry
  • Filing and assisting senior administration staff to keep the office running smoothly
  • Communication within the office and external agencies with confidence
  • Following instructions with minimal supervision

  • APS6 – Medical Device Assessor

    Long term contract till 30 June 2018 with option to extend to 30 June 2019. Our client, a Commonwealth government department is seeking a highly skilled candidate with A tertiary degree in a relevant field of Engineering or Medical Science. The successful candidate will contribute to the evaluation of medical devices, including in vitro diagnostic tests, and monitors them throughout their lifecycle to ensure they continue to meet an appropriate level of quality, safety and performance. This will also include providing secretariat support, and supporting external communications.

    Desirable:

  • An advanced degree in the relevant engineering or science fields.
  • Experience in the medical device industry, particularly experience with high risk medical devices.
  • Experience in a field relevant to the assessment of engineering or biocompatibility of medical devices.

    Full time, noting:

  • Standard business hours are 8:30am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday (public holidays excluded). Reduced activity will occur during the Christmas/New Year holiday period, Public Holidays and other times as advised.


  • APS5 Support Officer

    Our Government client is seeking an experienced APS5 Support Officer to provide a range of support activities to the area. This role will be working in high paced Health environment with a range of different functions. The position is till 30 June 2018.

    We are looking for somebody ideally with a Science Degree and experience working at a similar level within Government.

    Duties will include:

  • Managing several group email inboxes.
  • Providing a high level of customer service to industry professionals.
  • Working collegiately and collaboratively with teams to ensure consistency.

The successful candidate will be provided with a thorough handover with the current incumbent. Key responsibilities:

  • Manage travel arrangements for the CEO, Administrator and staff as required including itineraries, transport and accommodation bookings

    Senior Project Manager – Sydney

    Our client, a large state government department is seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Manager for a period of approximately 11 months. The program with be working in an IT setting to align with their recently introduced project framework, which is based on PRINCE2. This role will work closely with the Program Manager and Project Managers assigned to the projects along with a diverse group of senior stakeholders and customers. Key skills and requirements will include:

  • Experience as a business focused senior PM able to manage application and business process projects from requirements to delivery
  • Having excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Having demonstrated experience in delivering IT / business transformation projects where standardisation has been required
  • Being able to manage the planning and delivery of complex strategic projects
  • Experience managing project teams to ensure that the project outcomes are achieved
  • Developing and implementing project management plans to ensure the success of the project
  • Regularly communicate with key senior stakeholders to ensure the identification and tracking of project objectives
  • Preparing and presenting project status reports and communicate project updates to inform decision making at the senior level
  • Responsible for the management of project finances including budget formation, forecasting and reporting up to 5 million dollars

    It is essential that candidates have PRINCE 2 Methodology certification and advanced skills with the MS Office suite.

    Experience working in both government and private sectors as well as experience delivering both ICT and business projects would be highly regarded.

    The rate for this role is $100 to $112.50 per hour plus super.
